Acer Predator 21 X Laptop Review
There are some luxury items that exist to show the social status of their owners, such as the Hermes Birkin bag or the S65 AMG Mercedes sedan. The 21X $ 8,999.99 handset Acer Predator 21 X laptop aims to combine the equivalent PC of that lot, including Microsoft Surface desktop PC Studio and Razer Lama Pro gaming notebooks.
His appearance strikes and the formidable size will turn every head into the room, and that is his reason for being. It has an impressive list of high-end gaming components such as a 21-inch curved screen with two Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics processors, 64GB of RAM, and an Intel Core i7 CPU overclocked.
No other portable game leaves their audacity, but because the sky high price, energy systems, such as EON17-X 10 Editors of the Choice series have a better balance between price and performance.
Measure 3.27 for 22.36 by 12.38 inches (HWD) and weighing 18.6 pounds, the Predator 21 X pushes the boundaries of what one can actually call a laptop computer.
It’s so great that anyone except Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would struggle to keep the percussion in his lap. You can adapt the definition of a closed laptop computer itself, but it gets tired if you move beyond its lair to your garden. This system is more like a desktop all in one with a screen that can bend down instead of portable grab-and-go.
Because it’s so big, the Acer Predator 21 X laptop is not just packed in a cardboard box. Instead, it is installed in a high-quality waterproof plastic case that protects against dust and bumps. Wheels and handles case help bring your laptop as a rolling suitcase. When packed in this padded case, Acer puts another box around it for shipment.
21-inch curved monitor with a resolution of 2560 x 1080 and aspect ratio of 21: 9 Acer Predator 21 X laptop, is one of the reasons for the big body. Screen specifications allow multiple images as full screen for movies in CinemaScope all or two or three game windows are displayed next to each other.

The curve allows you to see the wide expanse from a few feet away without turning your head. During our tests, the screen looked great, with clear images and even a hint of pixelation or artifacts. The brightness is excellent and with little reflection.
The screen also has a refresh rate of 120Hz and is certified by Nvidia G-Sync, which results in a smoother with fewer errors such as tearing and blur during the game animation.
An important thread: The screen is not 4K (4,096 for 2,160), which is crazy given the $ 9,000 price. Other high-end laptops such as Razer Pro and Origin EON17-X Series 10 blades, our latest selections, feature 17 inches 4K (3,840 for 2,160). Being able to view native 4K content would have provided an even more engaging experience.
KEYBOARD and TRACKPAD
This large section near the hinge means the keypad is near the front of the handset. As with other laptops like this one (the Asus ROG Zephyrus to name one), it is not particularly comfortable, but in the case of a wrist with a suede finish that fits in position with magnets.
Acer predator 21 X laptop chose a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches and includes a set of keys that can swap blue if desired (W, A, S, D, and space).
We found the keyboard took a bit to get used to and although not the best keyboard we saw, it’s decent and includes five next macro keys.

We find the best keyboard for playing what we write, which in the case is the best way.
As expected, the keyboard is backlit and there are many another lighting that you can customize as Acer Predator 21 X laptop did a great job. Everything is standard enough for a laptop computer game, but the lights behind the keys are not the best.
The trackpad is the right of the keyboard and has two physical buttons. It works perfectly well, but nothing special as the trackpad goes. It has a trickle in the sleeve, however, appears to become a numeric keypad whenever you want.
Thanks to the metal contacts and magnets it is super fast and easy to change. Most users will end up using it with the side of the numeric keypad and connecting a dedicated mouse, hopefully.
CHARACTERISTICS AND PERFORMANCE
While the design is a spectacle to see, it is really the high standard of performance and performance that is likely to spin in 21X for mainly. Much to do here so let’s dive.
As already mentioned, the Acer predator 21 X laptop is no surprise has a 21-inch screen. That’s big cost very little for a laptop with larger models usually maxing out at 17in. It is also curved and although we are not a big fan of this kind of viewing technology on TVs, it’s very nice this way.
As you can see, it is extremely large and uses a 21: 9 aspect ratio that is great for things like movie viewing or spreadsheets but actually wants to play a lot of games in 16: 9 format, which means you’re using a 17-inch screen.
For example, games like Overwatch can be configured to use the entire screen in configuration but are terribly widespread. In full size resolution is 2560×1080 or WFHD.
The IPS screen has a nice matte finish and features like a 120Hz refresh rate and Nvidia G-Sync games without tears.
We found that it reaches 100 percent of RGB and 97 percent of Adobe RBG is impressive. We measured the contrast in a decent 930: 1, but an average Delta of 0.83 is nothing exciting.
Probably the biggest disappointment regarding the screen is the full volume brightness of 350 cd / m. That’s not bad for a lot of cases for internal use, but in a very bright room is not that great.
Underneath the screen, you will notice the black bar. This is a Tobii Technology eye tracker. If you have not used something like this before, it will be fun.
You can do some useful things like making the screen obscure automatically when you look away or even move where you are watching some games instead of using the mouse. Other games simply provide feedback on where you are trying to help improve – for example, you can watch the map is not enough.
This is great but in no way a key selling point for us. It’s a bit on the deceitful side of things and despite technology in a few years, there are still a handful of titles that support it.
Processor, memory, storage
Most laptops are available in different models so you can get a selection of basic specifications, to some extent in every case. The Acer Predator 21 X laptop, however, is available in one form so it is to take or leave – not surprising, given that only the 300 are there.

The 21X specifications sheet is a bit amazing and so must be £ 9k, starting with an Intel Core i7- processor. This is a 7 Kaby Lake and quad-core i7-7820HK generation processor with a 2.9 GHz to 3.9 GHz clock speed turbo mode.
It is a complete desktop processor and has the support of a huge 64 GB DDR4 and two 1TB hard drives, traditional and other SSDs.
We tested the first speed system, and horror shock gave us some amazing reference results. In Geekbench 4, the Acer 21X scored 15,184 and 4,510 PCMark 8 House Accelerated. For comparison, the Alienware 17 R4 obtained with the same processor respectively 13148 and 3812 respectively.
Graphics cards and benchmarks
It’s probably impressed by the specifications offered here, but the 21X does not have one, but two Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics cards. These are full-on desktop GPUs and usually only get one to a decent PC.
With the two 1080 connected SLI (Nvidia technology to connect multiple cards), you have a huge 16 GB of graphics memory available here. Acer says “every GPU is overclocked and eager for a challenge.”
Everything in the game world at this time should be possible, from ultra-VR earphone settings such as Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
We will reach the benchmark results soon, but you may wonder how this will keep you cool. Well, great, I feel great, the chassis means there is room for three of the Acer Aeroblade fans.
There are many air intakes on the back and sides that are difficult to lose. While staying relatively quiet during intense matches, the 21X does not expel some serious heat. If you have a small room in winter, you can turn off the radiator insurance.
To test the capabilities of Acer Predator 21 X laptop, we first performed the integrated benchmark in Tomb Raider.
It runs an average of 157 fps 1080p with “high” pre-set graphics and post-processing. It actually worked even better at full resolution with ultra-graphic post-processing effects and “very high” presets with a 161fps score.
Move to Ghost Recon: Wildlands on the 21X 96fps configurations’ high ‘and 1080p, 75fps dropped only when we went to full resolution and’ very high graphics settings.
The only way we got to get the car goes below the 60fps mark was set the game for “ultra” configurations, where it got 49fps.
CONNECTIVITY AND AUDIO
There is no connectivity shortage when it comes to Acer Predator 21 X laptop. Although it has an optical drive, despite the size of the thing – not just a feature present today on many laptops, it’s worth it if you want to watch DVDs or Blu-Ray.
What you get is an almost infinite number of ports that are: HDMI, DisplayPort, four USB 3.0 ports, a USB 3 / USB port, Ethernet, headphone jack, microphone jack and SD card reader.

In front of Bluetooth wireless and Killer Wireless-AC 1535 including 11ac have been obtained.
The last thing to mention is 21X before reaching the audio battery life. The large chassis means that Acer was able to install four speakers and two subwoofers. We said that the screen made sure 21X was good for watching movies, but this is enhanced by the incredible Dolby Audio system, which is better than any laptop we’ve tested. It offers an expansive, rich and powerful experience.
You might think that the Acer Predator 21 X laptop is so big and heavy because it has a huge battery, but that’s not the case. In fact, you need to feed this giant with two power supplies.
One of the reasons why this device should not really be called a laptop is that it can not actually be used without a power supply. Unplug the power supplies and you immediately in a pretty short notice period for the 21X by knocking on your head out.
In our standard battery test where we make a video with a 120cd / m brightness screen, the Acer 21X has a horrible time lasting 55 minutes – not even enough to play our movie once again.
This would normally be a big problem, but it is clear that the 21X is not designed to be used in motion.
